Pump & Run

Every year, there is a local 5k event. But this event, the Pump & Run, is fairly unique in that it also includes a weight lifting portion.

This is Jared's jam.

So since the first week in May, he has been eating like a superstar and training hard to be able to bench press his own body weight up to a max of 30 reps (and, btw, that is an accurate time frame... "This is why i keep record of everything!" says my accountant husband). Since the weight lifting portion is already his hobby, he focused mainly on that. But he did also train a few weeks for the running part, as well.

For each rep he put up, 30 seconds was deducted off his run time.

And this morning, he proved it was all worth it.

He placed - came in 3rd - and got a medal for all his hard work and mind-boggling dedication.

And I'm pretty sure we couldn't be any more proud of this guy if we tried.

He did this one other time a few years ago with his dad, but this time it was just him.

So the boys and I all got up extra early to go and support him!♥

On our way to the event!
Giving me their best "pump" :)
(Car seat people, I know.)

 Waiting while Daddy finishes registering

Headed up to watch some of the other runners lift.
Jared and his entourage.

 Getting ready

 Stud

 Almost his turn

 Here he goes!

 Un-racking

 GET IT.

 Bench pressed 170lbs 27 times
(28, but his butt came up too far, so it didn't count)
Awesome.

Time to get ready for the Run

 Me: You gonna stretch?
Jared: Eh... I'm not really at that "level". I stretched earlier.
Haha

Some high fives for good luck!

 The runners

 Our runner♥

 Runners get set....

 *BANG!*
And he gave us "the point"! :)

The excited supporters... eagerly awaiting his return....

 We see him!

 How cool is this picture?
Almost there...

(RIGHT then his phone fell out of the arm holder thing and he had to stop to get it! Ah!)

 Crossed the Finish Line!

Ran into an old friend - who happens to be an awesome runner

And then we waited on the results!

So proud of him

And then they called his name!!

 Not too shabby ♥

(Me: You didn't even smile when you got your medal!
Jared: I didn't? Well.. ya gotta be humble.)

Our weight-lifting runner with his 3rd place medal

 And this.
Because I made him.
Because he's awesome and he deserves to be proud of it.

Hope everyone is having as good of a holiday as we are so far!

***Happy Fourth, friends!!! ***
