Well last month, if you remember, Mom took the boys and I to Rolling Ridge Ranch (which was actually our second time - Grandma and Grandpa Himes took us for our first experience) And it was just such an easy, fun, low-key, day trip... we decided we should do it again with Joss and Felix while they were here!
I think we're becoming some of their best customers ....
And this time was absolutely perfect. The weather was gorgeous. It was only us and one other family on the wagon. And some of the really cool animals we sort of missed last time (zebra and water buffalo) were all out and feeling social :)
My cautious children were still more interested in throwing fistfuls of food on the ground (claiming they preferred to feed the baby animals.. sure..) than actually holding the bucket out for many... But even still, I really believe everyone genuinely had a good time!
All the kiddos - waiting for the ride to start!
Me and my boys
And the incredible Reynolds Family ♥
Who traveled all the way back to the OH just for a visit. Probably at the most inopportune time in any family's history....
What? We're in the middle of moving to a new state? We sold and moved out of our house 4 days ago? Signed papers for a new place?.... And all of our stuff is in storage and we technically have no place to go "home" to at the moment? (Hotels don't count.) Had to finish a college final while I'm here? Two of us have to start a new school when we get back? And Corey has to start a new job? .....
Pssht. Please. It's life.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For real. Can we please just take one second to acknowledge the craziness that IS their life? And how amazingly awesome they are to just take it all in stride?? (I would have curled up in a corner years ago trying to deal with military life.)
But anyway... on with the show!!
First stop! Llama?
Felix feeding some of the cute little deer all by himself
Enjoyin' the ride
Now this thing? Well this thing can feel free to run off as far as I'm concerned.
Beady little eyes, ugly sparsely feathered face, and giant terrifying beak...
But Mimi wasn't scared!
(*shivers* No. No, thank you.)
I spy a zebra!!
Joss and Corey givin' him a snack
They were so cute!
Now on to the pond!....
All the elk were coolin' off.
And the water buffalo! They were neat.
Then there was this guy! I think he was a wildebeest? Maybe? Or something...?
An elk...
... and one sneakin' a bite from underneath!
Peek-a-Boo!! Haha. They like to find the little dropped pieces....
More wagon-ride fun :)
I made Mimi take one, too ;)
And then some of the big kids got to take their turn and DRIVE!
Look out, you icky giant Ostrich!....
Holden has got the reins!!!! ;)
My sweet big boy ♥
Joss got to do it, too :)
(I'm thinking it was totally not even a challenge for this horseback ridin' gal.)
And finally, we got to see the beefalo.
He's my favorite part of the whole thing.
His nose is like the size of a dinner plate!!
I love him.
And this guy. Last stop. I think he was the gatekeeper that day. :)
Then we stopped by the petting zoo again for a few minutes, too, of course!....
Uncle Corey helped everyone hold a duckling.
Here was Holden's turn.
And then we got to hold and pet some baby bunnies, too :)
He loved it :)
(even though he still calls it a puppy when he sees this picture...)
And petting some little goats
Don't you dare think I'm not counting down the days until I see you again♥
